Safe by default
Sending files shouldn't mean trusting a stranger with them. Here's exactly what happens to yours.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Every upload and download runs over HTTPS, and the stored files are encrypted on disk by the storage provider.
Every file is virus-scanned
Uploads are scanned for malware before a download link goes live. Anything that fails the scan never reaches a recipient.
Links can't be guessed
Each transfer gets a random address, and the actual file download runs on a short-lived signed link that expires on its own.
Deletion really deletes
When a transfer expires, or you clear it early, the files are removed from storage — not just hidden. Deleted transfers keep a 30-minute window in case you change your mind, then they're gone.
Optional password on the download
Tick the box when you send and the files go out as one password-protected zip. The password never travels with the link, and Shako can't read it.
No ads, no data selling
Shako makes money from credits, not from you. Your files and contacts aren't mined, profiled or passed to advertisers.

- What is Shako?
- Shako is a file transfer service for sending large files by short link or email. You choose how long the files stay online, and you earn credit back for clearing them early.
- How much does it cost?
- 15 credits a month are free and credits are based on the number of days your files are kept. Extra credits are 45p each on Free, 20p on Plus and 12p on Pro, sold in bundles of 5. Plus is £60 a year and Pro is £150 a year.
- How big a file can I send?
- Up to 2 GB per transfer on the free plan, 20 GB on Plus and 100 GB on Pro.
- How long do files stay online?
- You pick the window when you send — from 1 day up to 30 days on paid plans. Credits are based on the number of days your files are kept. Everything is deleted automatically when it expires.
- Is Shako secure?
- Yes. Transfers travel over HTTPS and sit encrypted in storage, every upload is virus-scanned before the link goes live, download links are random and time-limited, and files are properly deleted when they expire or when you clear them. You can also put a password on the download.
- Do recipients need an account?
- No. Anyone with the link can download until the transfer expires. Only sending needs a free account.
- How does the credit work?
- Credits are based on the number of days your files are kept. A 1-day transfer costs 1 credit and a 10-day transfer costs 10. On top of that, clear a transfer within 24 hours and you bank 0.2 credit, 0.1 within 48 hours and 0.05 within five days. Five fast clears = one full credit back, and earned credit lapses after 30 days.
